Welcome to my corner of the World Wide Web!! I am a professional System Administrator and infrastructure engineer
with 10+ years of hands-on experience keeping servers alive, networks humming,
and deployment pipelines running smooth as a freshly compiled kernel. :-)
I specialize in building and automating large-scale server environments -- we are talking 80+ servers --
bridging the gap between Linux and Windows NT ecosystems. My work spans everything from bare-metal rack
configuration to high-availability web platforms hosted across Internet-connected data centers.
On the side, I write native software for the Apple Macintosh platform and have published
four applications through Apple's software distribution channel.

Planned and executed a complete migration of legacy Oracle database and IBM WebSphere application server
infrastructure to open-source PostgreSQL and modern web server solutions. This project eliminated
costly proprietary software license fees, reducing annual infrastructure expenditure by
$100,000 per year. The migration maintained 100% data integrity
and required zero downtime during cutover thanks to careful staging and rollback planning.

virtual machines running a mix of Linux and Windows NT. Implemented continuous integration pipelines
to automate software builds and deployments, reducing manual errors and cutting release cycles
from weeks to hours. Managed network topology, load balancing, database clustering, and
off-site backup systems. Also handled on-call incident response and capacity planning.

Built on a Linux/Apache/PostgreSQL stack with a Perl CGI back-end and HTML front-end.
Features include shipment tracking, inventory management, reporting dashboards, and
user access controls. Replaced a patchwork of spreadsheets and fax-based workflows
with a centralized, web-accessible system available to staff on any computer connected
to the company intranet.
