Plot Summary: Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), a successful banker, is arrested for the murders of his wife and her lover, and is sentenced to life imprisonment at the Shawshank State Penitentiary. There, he meets Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman), an inmate who has been in prison since 1947. Andy slowly gains the trust of his fellow inmates and eventually the warden, using his banking skills to help with money laundering. But Andy never loses hope that he will one day be free...
