The new Presario 5000 line introduces 350 and 400 MHz Intel Pentium II processors, 64 MB SDRAM, a 56K V.90 modem and a 8.4 GB Ultra ATA hard drive at price points starting under $1,599.

Compaq reports revenue of $8.4 billion for the third quarter ended September 30, 1998, with PC unit shipments up 19 percent year over year.

Compaq Joins Microsoft Windows NT 5.0 Joint Development Program
Compaq and Microsoft expand their joint engineering effort to optimize Windows NT 5.0 for Compaq ProLiant and AlphaServer enterprise platforms.
