Zarya Control Module Successfully Launched — ISS Era Begins
The Zarya Functional Cargo Block, the first element of the International Space Station, was successfully launched today aboard a Russian Proton rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. As prime contractor to NASA for the International Space Station, Boeing congratulates our partners on this historic first step toward humanity's permanent outpost in low Earth orbit.

Boeing 717 Completes First Flight
The new Boeing 717-200, the 100-seat twinjet formerly known as the McDonnell Douglas MD-95, completed a successful 2-hour, 25-minute first flight from the Long Beach assembly facility, beginning the path toward FAA certification and entry into service in 1999.

First Boeing Business Jet Delivered
The first Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), a corporate-configured derivative of the 737-700, has been delivered to its launch customer. The BBJ joint venture between Boeing and General Electric brings airliner reliability to the long-range executive aviation market.

First 777-300 Delivered to Cathay Pacific Airways
Boeing has delivered the first 777-300, the stretched derivative of the 777-200, to launch customer Cathay Pacific Airways. At 242 feet long, the 777-300 is the longest twinjet airliner ever built and replaces early-model 747s on high-density routes.
